The Performing Arts department has hit the ground running!

At the end of September, Le Régent Theatre Company visited the Théâtre Les Halles in Sierre. The students had a tour of the theatre and asked lots of questions to the current artists in residence, the director of the theatre and the backstage crew. They gained a truly valuable insight into the wider world of theatre, and for some, confirmed their emerging interest in the world of drama. And this was only the beginning: over the year, they will see various theatre productions and use the theatre facilities for workshops with local and international artists.

To top it off, Friday 24th September witnessed the launch of the first of a number of Creative Arts days. Students from Class 1- 6 turned into Street Artists for the morning and worked collaboratively to explore a range of skills in Art, Dance, Drama and Music. What a morning! The afternoon finished with some interesting discussions about the Creative Arts and why they are taught at school. The answer? Because of the huge range of lifeworthy skills they acquire – and Friday morning was eloquent proof of this as students worked beautifully together, helped each other, moved, sang and danced confidently and creatively.

The next Creative Arts day will involve the senior students and it promises to be another day to remember.
