“The night before the race, my nerves really started to hit in, since we started talking about the snow. I felt a sense of panic as I was not very used to running in these conditions, but on the day I was also very excited. During the race, all I could feel was a sense of joy, although I kept slipping and the uphill was tough – but Miss Don-Wider was very supportive. Near the end, it was very tense, We were really pushing ourselves and then we took a wrong turn. However, crossing the finish line was the best feeling, and I felt a great sense of achievement. Later that day I found out that we were third, and I was rather shocked, but also very happy. I think that I could have pushed myself more, but that is something that I will take into account for next time.”

Sophia competed in her first team trail running race with Mrs. Don-Wider in the Trail des Patrouilleurs 2020 in Crans-Montana last weekend… 12.7km and 850m of uphill running in a stunning time of 1hr49mins in thick snowy conditions! It was a tremendous effort to bring home third place for Le Régent International School!
