What event brings Mary Poppins, Little Red Riding Hood and Harry Potter together? Le Régent’s World Book Day, of course. These were just three of the costumes chosen by Régent Juniors and Infants who were asked to come dressed as one of their favourite characters. The real purpose was to celebrate reading and to encourage gratitude for all the lovely books we have the privilege to own or to borrow from the Junior library. In these times of Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, it was fascinating to see how much the children loved listening to teachers “in the flesh” read and bring stories and poems to life ranging from Roald Dahl poems memorably read by Ms Park to French Tongue Twisters (read by Monsieur Larburu dressed as Tintin).
